Black Heritage Month

The month of February is recognized throughout Canada as a time to celebrate the sacrifices and contributions of Black Canadians. Throughout February, the accomplishments of Black Canadians will be highlighted as students will participate in a variety of discussions and grade-level lessons that focus on diversity and equality.  As a school community, we recognize the importance of celebrating and learning about the contributions of Black individuals to our society. Black Heritage Month provides us with an opportunity to educate ourselves and our students about the rich history and culture of Black Canadians.

Please note that while Black Heritage Month is officially celebrated in February, at SPS, we strive to incorporate and celebrate the contributions of Black individuals throughout the entire year.
